Every Step

Every Step

A Poem by James Mckay

I feel with every step I take
I sink a little deeper
I feel with every decision I make
The choices get steeper

My feet are moving much slower
Like sloshing around in mud
My self-esteem is decreasing lower
I definitely feel like crud

Nothing seems to go my way
I have concrete on my shoes
No one listens to what I say
Somehow I just get the blues

The last thing I wanna do is cry
The last thing I wanna is mope
Perhaps I'll just curl up and die
Because I feel that I've lost all hope

Forgive me for how I am feeling
That's not usually the things I say
I know the answers are revealing
And I know that I'll be okay

I don't often rely on my faith that much
And I know a part of me should
For all I need is that spiritual touch
And it will make me feel so good

I feel with every step I take
I rise a little higher
I feel with every decision I make
My choices get brighter!
