A Poem by James Mckay

A few years ago
2019 came by us
Not long after my birthday
I contracted "that" virus
My oxygen level was low
I did feel a little weak
I was able to get an appetite
But it was much harder to sleep
Having to sleep on my tummy
Is what the Dr said to me
It was difficult for me turning
Especially with that I.V.
I was in there for a whole week
Then finally went home again
Then I had to call this number
And order a machine and oxygen
I was finally able to return to work
Family and co-workers did rejoice
But the paper remained so blank
I just could not find my voice
I wasn't sure if it was writer's block
I wasn't sure why it never came to me
That's when I discovered Writer's Cafe
And started reading all of your poetry
Little by little I was finally writing
You've all open my eyes and made me see
It won't be long until you read my words
Thank you all so much for inspiring me.

Tx! Hello my name is James and I'm 46. I began writing at an early age and I'm sure most of our poetry started with "Roses are Red", etc. I'm not sure where my love or desire for poetry came from .. more..
