I Laid a RoseA Poem by James MckayI laid a rose by your side of the bed
So you would see it when you wake up There would be hot breakfast on a plate And fresh roasted coffee in your cup I laid a rose on your side of the sink So you would see it when you brush your teeth There would be a clean cup and towel With a small note underneath I laid a rose on your side of the closet So you would see it when you got dressed Hanging on the mirror would be a necklace For you always looked your best I laid a rose on the handle of your car So you would see it before you left for work Just a token of my love and affection And for you to know the value of your worth I laid a rose right there in our mailbox So you would see it when you checked the mail How you would sniff it and smell it And feel the softness of every petal I laid a rose there on the dinner table Next too two plates and some candlelight How I would wine and dine you into romance How we would make love all night I laid a rose there on your beautiful oak coffin How I mourn for your loss as my heart breaks How I wished that it was me instead Yes there has to be some kind of mistake! by: James W. I began writing at an early age and I'm sure most of our poetry started with "Roses are Red", etc. I'm not sure where my love or desire for poetry came from .. more..Writing
