RemnantsA Poem by James Mckay
Buzzards circle a carcass
of what use to be a dead deer There are remnants of an automobile all spread out, here and there I hope and pray that no one was hurt They left a few broken pieces in the grass, the pavement, and dirt I looked down at the shattered glasskicked around some broken plastic parts I found the bumper and pieces of a grill I give those who survived, my best regards There on the road was a blood stainIt appears to be that of the so-called buck What causes an animal to take such a leap? What lights the fire underneath it's butt? I began to re-examine my life once againI guess I should be thankful to have a lighter load Otherwise I might be like this deer or that car Lying here helpless and possibly dead on the road! by: James W.
