9/11 The 20th AnnivesaryA Story by James MckayI just wanted to write a remembrance of the anniversary of 9/119/11 the 20th Anniversary Where thousands of lives were lost and they aren't coming back Where the skyline of New York felt a burden so unable to bear As ash, smoke, screams, and prayers filled up the Big Apple's air Policemen, firemen, and civilians all lined up in the city streets Removing debris and discovering bodies that all laid at their feet Millions of tears went to the ground; while many prayers went up Many felt anger and revenge, as their insides would soon erupt Let us remember the fallen, from the Twin Towers and Pentagon And the heroes of United Flight 93 who never made it back home It's been 20 years since that horrorific and tragic September day Those images are still etched in our memory and will not go away It wasn't about the color of our skin; we came together as a nation Well we prayed, we mourned, and we fought, from that devastation We marched for the American Flag and for those of the United States We caught those responsible, thanks to the Seals whom we appreciate We lost so many brave men and women because of this terrorist threat Trust me when I say that this is something that we will never forget I don't understand how we can come together one minute And be at each other's throats the next? The violence and hatred needs to stop or there won't be a country left Let's stop the killing and let's start loving and devise ourselves with a new plan I know we are a long way from peace but we need to put God back in every American Let's put our country back together piece by piece Let's remember those watching us from heaven Let's take all the necessary precautions So that we can avoid not having another 9/11 Written by: James W.
