Christ Meets The Easter BunnyA Poem by James MckayI wrote this two years ago thinking just what if Jesus ever came across the fictional Easter Bunny?CHRIST MEETS THE EASTER BUNNY Jesus chose to take a walk in the woods for He wanted to take in a beautiful view It was early and the sun was still rising as He was christened by the morning dew He saw a clearing up ahead and a bright glowing beam lit up the stump of an old tree He walked over to it and He sat down with raised hands saying, "Father, talk to me" As Jesus sat and talked to his Father, a rabbit was hopping, it was a very frantic day The bunny stopped saying, "Excuse me sir, my hole! Your feet are blocking my way" The rabbit went onto say, "My family and I are really very busy; this is a hectic week We've been decorating and painting eggs for Easter for all the girls and boys to eat." Jesus then said, "It sounds like you have your plate full; please go about your plans" Then the bunny looked at Him closely and asked, "What happened to your hands?" Jesus explained, "Long ago this world was filled with sin and it needed to be saved So I was sacrificed and nailed to a cross; I died but I rose and conquered the grave" The rabbit then said, "What's the point because people still sin? This world's a mess" Jesus said, "Yes that is true but they can all repent and then ask me for forgiveness" Looking over the wounds and the scars, the bunny stood in disbelief and even awe He couldn't fathom why He'd go through such torture for those who didn't care at all Jesus knew what was on the bunny's heart and said, "Please rest assure cottontail! My Father and I did this because we love them and my Father's love will never fail My Father bestowed this upon me, His Son, before Creation I knew what I had to do Easter is about my crucifixion and resurrection; Sorry, it has nothing to do with you" Jesus went onto say, "I know you bring joy to the children and that is quite all right But believing in you won't get them into Heaven, for my death represents new life" Jesus stood up and stepped away from his hole and then patted the rabbit's head Then Jesus turned and spoke saying, "Your young one is no longer sick in his bed." With a tear, the Bunny told him, "Thank you!" and then aked, "Who are you?" Then Jesus said, "I'm Jesus Christ" The bunny replied, "Thank you for healing my son but more importantly, Son of God, Thank you for your sacrifice!" HAPPY EASTER! HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY!
