A Poem to the EndA Poem by TwoDaysTooLateWe all have our happy endings...
Two steps, two steps,
That's all it took, To reach the edge, One last look. I close my eyes, Brace for the fall, I remember their faces, 'Useless', they call. One foot, one foot, Over the brink, I can't think about drowning, About how I'll sink. I balance calmly, Rethinking my choice, But suddenly behind me, I hear a voice. The other foot, the other foot, Prepares to go, But then I see all the things, Things I'll never know. I'm rocking now, Ever closer to death, I steel myself and, Take my last breath. A hand, a hand, On my shoulder, Under the touch, I feel myself getting older. I throw myself off the cliff, Sailing through the air, Remember kids, Life isn't fair.
