Chess NutsA Poem by Kent SmothermanYou have to read this with "chestnuts roasting on an open fire" in your head. :) If you're not a chess player, this will be gibberish. So, you know, like all my stuff! :)Chess nuts fighting o'er an open file, Bobby's nippin' at your king, Blitz chess does not last but a short while, So toss sac'd pieces with a fling. Everybody wings some bad moves - and that we all know Help to make the checkmate right. Tiny pawns, with their eyes all aglow, Will find it hard to queen tonight. They know that checkmate's on its way, There's just not that much time left on the clock to play, And every king's bishop is going to spy, To see if checkmate really will make you cry. And so I'm offering this simple sac, Accept or not it's mate in two, Although it's been said, many times, many ways, Simply "I resign" will do! © 2012 Kent SmothermanAuthor's Note
