The Hyphen DefenseA Story by Kent SmothermanThis was written for a writing challenge - to write a story with characters and plot in exactly 55 words. The instructors name was Martin, btw. :)“Great” she thought as flashing lights filled her mirrors. “You know why I stopped you?” officer Martin asked. “No” she replied coolly, handing over her license. “My calculations put you over 55”, Martin explained, “Your license reads Marion Williams-Smith”. Marion looked bemused, retorting “But that's 55.” After a momentary pause, he sighed “So it is.” © 2012 Kent Smotherman |
