Just a Dream

Just a Dream

A Poem by lauren emily

I feel so safe
in your arms right now
Your lips caress mine
My love, I do vow
I feel as though we are one
I feel as though this is the place I'm meant to be
Your words make my heart melt
Your smile fills me with glee
Your eyes look down at mine
And they are filled with nothing but hope and love
Your finger traces lights circles on my cheek
And I feel as though I am a soaring dove
Your arms hold me close
And the beating of your heart is all I hear
You whisper soothing sounds to me
And tell me never to fear
You say my side you never will leave
You say that a life together is something we can achieve
You whisper my name but once more
And then you begin to fade
And soon..I cannot see you anymore
I run through the darkness
A sign of your absence
I search for you frantically
The pain in my chest feels immense
Dazed and confused
I fall to my knees
Where did you go? Why did you go?
My eyes are filling with tears and I can barely
The feeling of emptiness
Becomes so extreme
I don't understand why you left
I just want to scream

I wake screaming
The image of you still fresh in my mind
The feeling of emptiness is fresher, still
It is something I could not leave behind

I realize now
That it was nothing but a dream
That you had left such a long time ago
And again, I just want to scream

There's a soft sobbing sound coming from my chest
and the tears still stream down my face
I know now you will never come back
And I know that no one will ever take your place

I love poems about dreams. I have had dreams like this before. It makes you feel like the weight of life is crushing you. Great job on covey you them through out the poem. I can picture a woman waking up from a dreams with wet tears gliding down her face. Only problem i came across and I read it twice to make sure is at the end of the first stanza it should be I can bare not barely.

This piece has a strong emotional impact. Very sad ... I felt the loss - the panic - the waking out of a dream still stuck in its energy.

Outstanding job making your reader FEEL your words. That's what poetry is all about my dear ... creating feeling, emotion...

Well done!

Actually, there are no spelling errors, so congrats on that!

This is extremely long, so I think you should shorten it - make it heavier, and deeper; compressed.

It's a beautiful poem, telling a sad, beautiful poem.
