Memories

Memories

A Poem by lauren emily
"

I was just thinking over some things that have happened lately, and this is what came of it:

"

Memories of yesterday,

of a summer now gone.

Memories of things that I won't see again,

of things that I sit and ponder on.

Memories, sweet memories

that wonder and dift through my head.

Memories of things that I may love or dread.

Memories of things that happened,

not so long ago.

Of things that are and will always be,

Of things that remind me not to let go.

Memories of yesteryear,

of things that may happen time and time again.

Memories of thing that took place two days ago,

or things that happened 'way back when'.

Memories of yesterday,

or memories I will not soon forget.

Memories of good times,

these things I will not soon forget.

I think its sweet and simply...everything. Memories are sad and sweet, good and bad,

Memories of thing that took place two days ago,
or things that happened 'way back when'.

I think this completes the expression. Beautiful! :)

Being one for repetition, I am glad that I got the chance to read this with the two "I will not soon forget" lines in the piece. There are many times when repetition looks to be overdone and played out, but in the way that you happened to use it here; it does wonders sealing the deal with the memories. The flow of the overall language provides a cadence, though not what one would call mnemonic - something that definitely rolls off the tongue with a memorable ease. Hold them close. They will forever light your way.

I liked this. Memories will always be in our hearts. Just let go of the bad ones and keep the good ones close. Great write. :)
