Try to hide me,

spin or distort,

the truth cannot be ignored,

Ha, good question.! Here, I honestly meant wherever it can be found; and in whatever context. It is what it is. And, unchangeable - so it's "eternal".

That's why, whatever people do to hide or distortion it - the actual truth is still "eternal"; and such truths have that unique essence of power in our lives.

Well, at the time - so called "spin doctors" were trying to distort societal views about various headline news stories. Some say, that our former PM Tony Blair and his team; helped to normalise this approach in Britain. This all made me reflect upon, the nature of truth. What it actually means, and so on.

I wrote this some time after, that particular government was in power here; but this poem was inspired by their approach - I suppose. And, Ronald Reagan's famous quote - "facts are stubborn things"; also made me ponder the truth topic.

You say English instead of British?

Well, I use both; but people vary quite a bit in how and why they use one word rather than the other. In this context, Britain is probably more accurate; because our PM has greater authority in the regions e.g. Wales and Scotland than even their most senior leaders. It was a long time ago now, that Tony Blair was our PM. But, that probably reflects that it made some kind of impression on my memory. Generally here, people use the word English when referring to people within the English mainland territory - rather than anything to do with Scotland or Wales etc.

Well, in a general kind of way. You may remember too, how so many people were in tears; when Lady Diana died so horribly and unexpectedly..? She was the Princess of Wales too, of course.
