Litle Black Dress

Litle Black Dress

A Poem by Twilight
"

The protagonist in this poem, is what used to be known as a "fallen woman". However, how literally should this be interpreted by the reader?

"

Annette felt fine,

slim and proud,

her little black dress,

it spoke aloud,

Of her moral outlook,

some would say,

perhaps too much,

was on display?

Lace or silk,

in patterns sublime,

dark as night,

t'was a worthy find,

It inflamed her senses,

and men's minds,

yet wicked thoughts,

were brought to life!

When Annette twirled,

and heard the slice,

of a fiend's knife!

Was this real,

or life surreal?

Her heart stopped,

then the penny dropped,

that a cruel rival,

was back for blood,

And the last sound,

as her corpse struck,

rotten floorboards,

for a rotten w***e!

And that little black dress?

it witnessed no more.....

I loved this and added it to my favs. I may be wrong but I thought it was as though the woman had done something wrong and the rival was back for vengeance. i also thought in the beginning the black dress was almost her "new beginning".but in the end her past came back to get her.

w***e is such a derogatory word,
so strong, it depicts not impurity,
but disgust, and its funny, how it stands next to a
nice dress,
-----great write, ---mishel

I liked it. The last line "And that little black dress? It witnessed no more." was my favorite. The mystery of the rivalry between Annette and the other character was really interesting. Good job :)

I was imagining her as a woman who had been kept in a domestic role all her life and had finally broken out of that "frumpy" image and that little black dress was her first attempt at finding another side of herself. I did not see the ending coming, but it was powerful. To think that, just as she was feeling so good about herself and having such a wonderful time just being a woman who felt good in her own skin, she was cut down in such brutal cruelty, perhaps out of jealousy. Tragicly unexpected. Well done.
