In this poem, I express those primal fears of growing old, our absurd (and ultimately futile) efforts to delay the aging process. Also, there is a reminder of how we sometimes try to seek solace in fond memories.
This is lovely Julian. It is very realistic yet very complimentary to women. I think in some societies women do grow old gracefully . I think the loss of independance is the scariest thing. I love last few lines.
Yet even their,
great purity,
cannot defy,
that destiny,
to join our earth,
and feed the trees.
What a lovely ending to the poem and to life itself.

Fascinating. You have a very philsophical style of writing, which would indicate that you are a very deep thinker. This is good.

Very well written piece. No one really grows old gracefully do they. Acceptance is in oneself is key but we always want to be young and perfect. Great piece.
