A Picture of Love

A Picture of Love

A Poem by Twilight
"

Loosely linked stylistically, with my "A Picture Of Beauty"; and "The Portrait" poems (on this site).

"

I remember the bliss,

Of your first kiss,

That warm tongue,

And tender lips

That refined shape,

And of late,

Your face reminds me,

Of a portrait

Which I held,

In my hands,

When you travelled,

To distant lands

Away from me,

But your thoughts were near,

And my intentions were crystal clear

A rose for you,

I longed to spare,

To rest gently,

In your black hair

I think you know,

What could follow,

Timeless love,

Or endless sorrow.

I think this is very beautiful. it's melodic as some of the other reviewers stated. It flows so sweetly and then you end it by saying that it could end with
"timeless love
or endless sorrow"
causing it to be almost bittersweet because the reader realizes that it could end in sorrow...excellent write as always!

A romantic poem that packs a powerful reminder at the end . . .

"I think you know,
What could follow,
Timeless love,
Or endless sorrow."

Ah, such is love! The greatest risk, for an even greater reward, or heartbreak.

Grand write!

Thankyou. That's good feedback.
Julian, this is just such a gorgeous piece. The first stanza drew me right in and the last stanza nearly made my heart skip a beat. It was my favorite stanza and a very powerful one as well. Exquisitely written!!!

And, thanks for your comments!
Beautiful, I felt every word to the core of my being. Twilight this is wonderfully written and that last stanza says it all. Love can either be an endless gift or a lifetime of pain.

Indeed, indeed. Thankyou!
The beauty that is your soul leaps from your words straight to my heart. The last stanza is a brilliant summation: "timeless love or endless sorrow." Whatever the case, it's never ending.

Lovely! Keep shining!
