Oh nice! Started around the same age, producing juvenalia, that is. But had to be pushed in front of audiences at a younger age for declamation of memorised poems. The difference being my disorganised and haphazard method of poeting; although not lacking respect for the written or spoken word, was found much much later to have been challenged by dyslexia and add, before they were even a thing. As for confidence, that came and went… still does.. But, loving this and much appreciative of your sharing this esteemed genesis.

I remember being both, conscious that I was good with words; and aware of their importance in everyday life etc. And, enjoyed writing too. I wasn't encouraged or given any extra help from experts, so I did not have those advantages. At the start, when seven or eight; interactions between characters in comics brought basic understanding of some human attributes. Attributes such as loyalty and bravery, for example; in some of the types of comic which I appreciated. I don't read any comics or graphic novels, these days. Even so, the good ones can inspire young people; and be potentially more meaningful - than they are generally given credit for. With advertisement posters which I studied, tag lines and slogans prompted me to think about how influential words can be

a very interesting and personal poem of the very beginning of your writing; It seems you had the foresight to learn how to become a poet from a very early age…. i was inspired to write at a much later stage in my life….it might have to do with the start of my painting career…ideas began swirling in my brain with the urge to create….and artistic abilities run in my family….thank you for sharing!
Warmly, B💥💥💥💥
