This piece just reflects a healthy and positive way, to approach our objectives in life; whatever those aims might happen to be.

Evolve as we learn,
Evolve wherever we dwell,
Evolve with life's maturity,
If you really want to do well,

Adapt for yourself,
Not For others,
Friends or family can only take you so far,
And never forget - who you really are,

III

Repeat the ways which work for you,
If you want to stay in the game,
Because we're all so very different,
And no single day is the same

This is true. In schools and stuff, being with parents, etc we have to learn discipline and get knowledge to get ready for the future.We have to evolve which helps in adapting better and this is a repeating process. Great work, Julian!

Yes, that is a good review; and you clearly understand what that poem is trying to say. Indeed, in hindsight; I should perhaps have emphasised the importance of self-discipline too. Without enough self-discipline in their lives, people are more likely to behave too spontaneously; which increases the likelihood of bad decisions being made. However, being spontaneous can be fine or even positive; when just having fun with your friends (for example). So, in life's journey; sensible people - learn which situations required self-discipline; and recognise the situations when spontaneous behaviour might be preferable. So, it depends upon the context. From experiences of our own, and what people advise; mature people usually manage to get the balance right. After all, too much self-discipline can make life dull. Just as too much spontaneity, tends to cause different problems. By adapting our behaviour, it helps us to cope with a wide range of different situations; throughout life's journey.
