The Black ForestA Poem by Twilight
The black forest has two sides,
Outwardly bleak, Yet with inner peace inside, Outwardly the trees seem bleak, With their thick weathered trunks, Seasoned by winter's chill, Blackened branches and brittle twigs, Poised above the dead forest floor of leaves, But there are eaves of tranquility too, For one person or two, A pair of lovers maybe, Gaze at one another gladly, Safe in their forest sanctuary, As safe as nervous deer, The quiet and isolation of here, Provides opportune for a sense of calm, Away from noisy politics, Away from life's daily balm, Sometimes opportunity to be alone with one's thoughts, In this mad modern world, At least we can still clutch at twigs, Modern world play at your own foolish jigs. © 2024 TwilightAuthor's Note
