This is an interesting piece of work. I do love rhyme schemes.
Birds in flight are freedom. The nature of just being instinctual is a sort of freedom in itself. God does not restrain us; we restrain ourselves to the manmade dollar to have freedom, which is a God-given gift.
I believe the innate want Of the bird to demonstrate prowess to entice the female is a sin. One of the seven, I think. “Lust”, maybe?

We were given free will, as stated within Christian theology; so God is never portrayed as an entity which controls mankind. It's a given, that people will make moral mistakes; including acting upon instinct. In verse two, I listed several bird behaviours; which superficially mirror some human behaviours (I could have included more). Regarding "flight", people have a tendency to take flight for a whole plethora of reasons. By coincidence, I remember writing a poem called "Lust Or Trust"; having noticed your reference to lustful behaviour. Feel free to look, if it's listed amongst my writings. If you don't see it, I might have written on paper only. The way in which a male bird will seek to demonstrate prowess, is of course part of nature; when mating is due to take place. But, demonstrating that prowess is really a form of boasting or showing off; so vanity would possibly be the form of sin in this context? The passionate lust happens later, Fia; after the feckless male has finished showing off lol. Well, I'm sure that you've met plenty of guys with bird brains..! Anyway, I will remain open to "read requests". And, your quite detailed review is acceptable.
You make a good point. I love to watch birds and other animals being themselves, playing about. Hummingbirds drinking nectar. Robbins tending their nests. (I'll forgo watching lions devouring a hyena) They are entirely without fault. (sin?) There's a lot about them to envy. Also to make comparisons to ourselves. I think I understand this pretty well.
I love the message you have shared. Yes, it would be a lovely world if all were free from sin. I could hear the sweet song of birds chirping as I read your words :) Julie

I had the title of Dawn Trader in mind, before I'd even decided exactly what to write. It's a term sometimes used, in regard to financial traders on the stock market etc. In my imagination, I compared that with birds; "trading" over scraps of food or seed (at dawn).
I enjoyed the juxtaposition of bird and man. Though the addition of God and sin seemed clunky, taking away from the flow. Perhaps the point could be made in a more refined way? As I sit watching the hummingbirds while having my coffee, I see the connection to nature and God’s beauty. Perhaps, we can be more like them. Nice premise, food for thought.

It’s a poem which asks one to think.I like the way it compares simple animals with people to the latter detriment,so often well deserved.
