I Am The Twilight Dancer

I Am The Twilight Dancer

A Poem by Twilight Dancer
"

The title is the prelude ... to the answer.

"

I am The Twilight Dancer.

I wake each day to that time and space,

Between night and the dawn of a new day.

Venturing outside, I look up to the heavens

And say Good Morning to my Maker;

Only then can the dance begin.

Crickets, tree frogs, and cicadas provide the music.

Tanagers, wrens, cardinals, and blue birds sing the lyrics with their beautiful sweet song.

The ambiance is set by the fragrance of sweet honeysuckle and gardenia,

Lush green grass glistening with dew is the highly polished dance floor.

The soft, cool, gentle breeze fingers through my auburn tresses,

While caressing my face like cleansing, fresh water.

My mind begins to dance with words, thoughts, and senses;

And creativity becomes my partner.

The music reaches a crescendo,

My mind, soul, and spirit join as one;

As the sun begins to rise over the eastern horizon.

The last dance is called – a waltz;

And I dance more slowly, knowing the dénouement is near.

Not to be gone forever, just for the day;

I am The Twilight Dancer and will dance tomorrow’s morn.

O.K. I'm officially impressed! The beauty of this is tangible. I could not only hear it, I could feel it and I love that part of day between the light and dark, between the dark and light, I like to watch the bunnies at play in the evening and the spiders navigating their dew sparkled webs in morning. You have turned the joy of all that into a dance. What a lovely, endearing thought! This was a joy to read and I thank you for bringing joy into my day by offering this lovely piece of well crafted writing for me to read!

Your ample use of adjectives makes this poem very descriptive. Beautiful images caress the page with such ease. I loved this uncomplicated piece...it's poetry at, what I believe, it's best!
I could understand it and that's always a plus for me because obscure work is tiring to read... I could just sit and read without trying to figure out the message.
