Orphan Sky

Orphan Sky

A Poem by Margo Seuss
"

A place where all the forgotten children go.

"

Trace her in the window pane.

See stars fall from her eyes.

Why does she wait?

The glass child.

Alone

in shadow giants.

*

He marries the night

with sap on his wings.

He smears roses on her cheeks.

He tells a story. Caresses the pages.

Steals echoes from her mind.

*

Remember her?

Her paper hair?

Silver faces like scattered words―

 parchment forgotten in the wind.

 She’s the family wilted

above drawers of  knibs.

A washed out portrait

in a sea of Monet

 framed in old church bells.

*

 A place where flowers stretch

too tall. Lonely.

Stone gardens crumble.

He’ll watch you wave

your rusted hands

as she becomes

the orphan sky.
