Chpt. 1A Chapter by Turtle :) His hand lay on her waist as he turned her in a lazy circle. The bottom of her dress brushing the polished wood floor as she clung to him, a bright smile gracing her face. Her dress gleamed pearly white in the fading sunlight as they danced together, the gold rings glinting on their fingers. Together in their own world. Grant spun his bride out, marveling at her as her dress spun out around her lithe ankles. Laughing, she turned back to him, her hips swaying with the piano’s melody. Ruth’s dark brown hair bobbed around her collarbone as she pulled Greg to her. Lacing her fingers with his, the young couple fell into rhythm with each other. Their bodies swaying simultaneously to the music. Grant’s eyes slowly began to wander from Ruth’s bright eyes to the guests gathered behind them. His parents and hers, the preacher, all of the young grandchildren and their parents danced in their own element. Nobody noticed the man in the back of the room. Still amidst the laughter. His grey gallon hat tilted down on his head, shielding his eyes from the groom. Smoke dwindled from his cigarette hanging from his lips. Something glinted in his waist band, tucked under his belt. He nodded sharply before tipping his hat and leaving without a word. Grant swallowed. Ruth pillowed her head on his shoulder. “Love is all we have to lose,” He whispered to her. Grant’s hands shook as he held her. For he had seen his reaper.
