Why LenoreA Poem by Turquoise TanukiI wrote this a few years back, actually. I was playing around with -I believe the term is alliteration? It is a take on Poe's the Raven.
There was a knocking at his door
He lay dead upon the floor His body worked; his soul was gone In flew the raven--- into the room His eyes followed the bird of doom His body worked; his soul was gone The raven told him, "Never more." He no longer cared for Lenore His body worked; his soul was gone The raven sat upon a bust Empty bottles lay around him in the dust His body worked; his soul was gone The raven said it once again Through empty eyes he viewed his sin His body worked; his soul was gone The fair and beautiful Lenore No more Lenore, only spirits any more His body worked; his soul was gone © 2016 Turquoise Tanuki |
