Catching Nightmares

In a world of grace and butterflies,
My time-line has only been a dream.
But then I looked up and caught sight of you.
You taught me that my dream was only an illusion,
I needed better,
I thrived for it.
Then gentleman you are,
You took my hand so tight,
And we flew.
Away from my Disney story,
Away from me.
And so it began.
I broke down into defeat,
Needing you more,
Yearning for your incredible power,
Grieving over your departure.
I crashed and burned,
Waiting,
Seconds meaning hours,
Still waiting,
For nothing.
I wanted you to fill me up,
Into the dream I once knew,
Into the memories we once had,
But you didn't.
You only killed me with your high.
