TEARS OF THE EARTH

TEARS OF THE EARTH

A Poem by Mr 2five
"

The earth is a personified subject The ill treatment people has to face day after day all in the hands of fellow men

"
He is angered
Seeing men subjugating the voiceless
The fry as waifs
The rex slaughtering subjects
Quivering its anger gives earthquakes
Thus the caveat
Yet men are impervious to change

The earth cries
Seeing the noble lie
Kingdoms fight
Blood of the clean-handed spitted
His tears gives rain
Thus the caveat
Yet men are impervious to change

The earth thirst and yawns
Seeing his waters polluted
Men unmasking its face
Exposing it to wicked hot sun
Evaporating its waters
His yawning brings forth strong wind
Thus the caveat
Yet men are impervious to change

Finally finally he will fed up
And mankind will be swallowed
Forever.

It's clever & creative to use personification as you have . . . making this about how the planet feels about all the messy stuff going on. Your repeated refrain "men are impervious to change" sounds a little too final for me. I believe humans are pretty rotten in many of the things that are done, but I also don't believe in generalizing becuz there are also many excellent humans working hard to make it better. Rather than pronounce that all humans are incapable of change (somewhat true, but too dire), why not propose your answer/solution/idea for how this could be otherwise? It's easy to sit around & condemn everyone. That's why we're in such a pickle. It's much harder to figure out what can motivate people to change for the better. If this were easy, people would be doing it. People are not s****y becuz they love being s****y. People are s****y becuz they don't know any better. Tell me what can persuade people to change instead of condemning everyone for our human frailties. This is just me responding to your message . . . it doesn't mean your message is wrong or badly stated. You are expressing the way many people feel & how they curse mankind for what's happening (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

My 2 cents: I would reconsider the last stanza of three lines since your poem started strong right from the beginning..

Very nice title .. mother earth is precious .. nice metaphors such as "earth thirst and yawns" .. in Abrahamic religions during Armageddon: earth will talk to God and testify against tyranny etc .. enjoyed reading your poem .. blessings

This offering is a hymn of frustration at mankind's follies and misbehaviors. Many topics are touched upon, from violence to climate change, each stanza but the last ending with the refrain, "Yet men are impervious to change. The last stanza predicts the cost of that imperviousness: mankind will be swallowed/forever. A grim picture, indeed. We must endeavor to keep it from coming to fruition.
