The Words Unspoken

Silence is awkward but it's also golden
Words fill it when a smile would be nice
For once just leave the words unspoken
A hug, a laugh, a nod would suffice

I've been wondering what's inside the words unspoken
Why do we speak them at all?
Since promises were just made to be broken
We only set ourselves up for the fall

The strongest are formed in the words left unsaid
Since talk is just so dirt cheap
If it doesn't fulfill then the sentence is dead
Just give me a word that you can keep
