Behind Closed Doors

Behind Closed Doors

A Poem by Whitney
"

Not everyone is okay when they smile. This is one instance of millions. The first step to healing, is recognizing the wound. I hope that by sharing this, others will be encouraged to come out of their shell, it's okay. We're not perfect. We make mistakes.

"

Every girl wants to be her
She's the top girl in her class
Stopping every guy in site
Her eyes as clear as glass

It seems she's got everything
Her compassion over-pours
Because you'd never ever guess
What her life is behind closed doors

When she walks inside her house
Her mom is taking pills
To forget she has a kid
Complaining she needs refills

In her very tiny room
She gathers all her drugs
And leaves through open window
To go find some ruttish thugs

Wandering the streets
She makes a couple trades
And she finds a lonely place
To feel her snow and blades

She's in the middle of a ripple
Self degrading her own blight
Numbing out, she's dry of tears
Just to make it through the night

By the time she's back at school
She shows a smile, of course a fake
She doesn't dare try to explain
Because it's more than she can take

A realistic poem with command over poetic language as well as story telling. You can write passions and emotions.
