Who Am I

Who Am I

A Poem by Whitney
"

Who are you?

"

I'm exactly who I am
Assumptions play no part
This mirror stands me up
But all that matters is my heart

If this idea is true
Then tell me what you see
Torn to pieces? Tell the truth
Cause all you're looking at is me

So who am I?
Please tell me God
Who am I to be?
Send a sign to light the way
At least for me to see

I want to be what others think
My imagination's world
But this will never happen
Back to blackness I am hurled

To sit in silence, once again
I've fought my own defeat
Dodging my own accusations
Feeling fire below my feet

So who am I?
Please tell me God
Who am I to be?
Send a sign to light the way
At least for me to see

It has a beat to it. Almost like iambic pentameter
