The Change

The Change

A Story by trumpetgirl78

"Leave her alone!" I screamed across the room as the wolf gripped at my mothers throat. I could see her face turning blue as the wolf gripped tighter, her life slipping away like an hour glass. It's like I could see each ground of sand fall to the bottom of the hour glass in a mental sense. There was nothing I could do, I've never changed before. And that scared me but what scared me the most was losing my mother. I threw a rock at the mutt "Over here mutt!" I screamed as bitter as I could. The wolfs face snapped my way, slinging my mothers body like a rag doll. And just like that the wolf was on top of me clawing at my chest. I could feel my skin peeling off in pain. I scuffled out a quiet "help" but nobody could hear me as I blacked out.
"Master, she's the only one who can survive this."
"She is not the only one Link, she is something very rare." The old man paused in thought,"Her mother was a beautiful vampire..It's a shame that she died."
"Master, with all respect you don't want to wake the girl with horrible news of her mothers passing."

"My mom's dead?" I barely whispered out. My eyes opened slowly but everything was bright and a blur. "Am I dead?"
"No flare, you're not dead. But sadly I have to report of your mom's passing... She was an amazing woman. " a young man said softly.
I could feel my eyes tearing up. Why did I live? I knew I didn't deserve to live after this.
"I know this is hard to except flare. But you have to except it okay? You did all you could to save her."
the old man said.
"I could have changed, but I couldn't...why? Why couldn't I change? Who are you people?"
