Stormy Night

Stormy Night

A Poem by TrulyPoetic

Fate seems to be against me and my heart
For each endeavor I embark on fails profusely

As I sit close to the window on this stormy night
I envy the clouds
For they they can cry a torrent of tears
They can yell and scream at the pain
They can wash the sorrow away
And they can forget

But I can't
I can't forget your dazzling smile
Nor your beautiful lips as they are pressed against mine
I can't forget how you made me laugh
How you made me smile
How you made my cry
And lord in heaven knows
That I cannot forget our love

The times spent together
Eternally burned in my mind
The sweet passionate kiss
Forever ablaze upon my lips
And never the love
Stabbed deep within my heart
Immortal

Even as the eons pass
And the earth grows old
As the rivers run dry
The love never fades

So on this stormy night
Where the wind howls a sorrowful tune
Where the clouds sadness screams deep at earth
Where god tears flow profusely among us mortals
I ponder a thought
One so deep that it surpasses the soul
A place where utter truth resides
Undiminished and untainted

And I want you to know
That through it all
I'll never let us go
Because these words
These emotions are my heart and my soul
And I bleed them out
To simply let you know
That I love you

But this love is killing me
And every stroke is by your hand
Every blow spilling my life giving ichor
Yet I dare not defend myself
I dare not hurt you
I dare not lose you

Nevertheless lost you I have
And among the carnage
I've lost myself
I've lost my soul
I've lost my heart

So dear fates
On this bloody stormy night
Grant me one fruitful endeavor
For my heart is lost
And my soul forgotten
Lost against the damned
Of which it's trapped screaming to be freed

And so on this stormy night I'll travel deep
Into the recess of my mind
To find my heart
To free my tortured soul
And to forget you
