Shattered Kingdom

Shattered Kingdom

A Poem by J.Truth
"

a poem i wrote for my 8th grade history class

"
Feudalism rose for protection after the fall of Rome.
Years passed by and peasants, knights, nobles all spoke in drone
Things got worse when King John took the throne;

So serfs had a plan to fight for their small part of land
Lords, peasants, knights all contributed to fight for whats right
The peasants all worked hard

Then comes the knights, always on guard
Nobles act intelligent while-
The King writes down demands, piles and piles high

Hopes have been shattered
Though rights were not only what mattered...

The Hundred Years war-
a memorable event in history,
made an impact in society

English vs. France
took part in the Battle of Crecy
Using weapons like longbows and crossbows...
I imagined that the battle sure was messy

In truth though, something else lurks outside the kingdom walls
Something dangerous that might swipe out all
Deaths may occur,
Might look like a massacre,

Such a threat could result into frets.
Its only the plague;
though the plague would send you in pain,
keep people in vain, hard for them to stay sane.

You might think that this has crossed the line-
but this is just what led to Feudalism's Decline

I love poems that double as a history lesson but not all of them pull it off as well as this one does. This was very well-written and interesting to read; a great piece!
