The Blue Jay

The Blue Jay

A Poem by Benjamin L. Weekly
"

Fly

"

Watch how the blue jay flies
Under the arch of the rainbow
Through boughs of cherry blossoms
Over the pointing children watch it go

See where the blue jay lands
As it leaves the emerald sky
To bask in a porcelain sink
And cast a glimmer in the old man's eye

Notice where the blue jay eats
Dancing amidst blades of green
Pausing to tilt it's curious head
At two lovers transfixed in a dream

If you think of the blue jay, free
And desire the wings that fly
You're silly - It's a fantasy
But you can go anywhere if you try

beautiful, the last line gave me a lump in my throat, how true, if we want we will..........its having that faith we can, even just to close your eyes and see your fantasy behind it.......this has such a delicate balance of beauty, nature and a desire to make us feel freedom can be tasted should we choose to follow our hearts.

Wow, this is stunning. The last line made me smile. This is a marvelous peice of work that deserves every praise it gets. Freedom is not limited to those who have money and time to do it, it's given to everybody whose willing to chase it. This poem is one of my favorites, absolutely beautiful.

"In my mind I can do anything I want to do" and you did. A beautiful poetic work that captures the imagination and holds you from beginning till end. Good rythmn and flow. You written imagery invokes bright pictures in the mind and give the reader the desire to morp into a bird of brilliant blue and soar throught the sky observing the life below. What poetry you could write from that one brief flight. You truly write with a gifted pen.
