a tear in the neighborhood
A Poem by TrueBlu
abandoned buildings .. each once someone's home,
are being replaced by new .. houses
the neighborhood has changed .. and so quickly,
but not completely
the cafe on that little street ..
just around the corner is still there but ..
it's so hurried now.. more like a fast food place ..then a Cafe
and some of the old brownstones are still here too ..
and their original owners .. who ..
do a wonderful job in their upkeep of the neighborhood,
so ...
I still enjoy sitting on the front steps ..
with my take out order,
but only from time to time .. because ..
I miss all those who have moved away ..
even the ones I hardly talked to, but ..
always had a warm and friendly hello or wave for me.
sure new people .. good people .. will move into the new houses,
and become good neighbors and friends ..
and there will be those who ..
paste writings on the lampposts ..
writings I won't understand but ..
never will the replace those ..
of the ones I never completely understood by..
a Jewish girl that lived on the block or..
that fellow from Canada..
it's kind of funny how I miss ..
reading their words .. even though ..
sometimes I felt like they might as well be writing in
Hebrew or French.
well it's starting to rain and ..
my takeout order of coffee is getting cold, so ..
I think I'll be on my way ..
and I hope that Jewish girl doesn't mind me borrowing ..
a few of her beautiful and touching words ..
but she is so right in saying ..
'Everything has a tear in it' ...
even these ..reflections in the rain ...
see you later lamppost

What a surprise to find you here! Once again, I find myself awed by your words - you are one of the very best poets I have had the honor of knowing. I am smiling now and looking forward to reading more of your wonderful poetry.
