A Memory

A Memory

A Poem by Aislinn Gryffin ((Ashes))

A tear is slipping from my eye

don't cry

don't cry

it's what he wants

i'm watching you from high above

what's your name

you look so familiar

my darling

don't i know you

little dear

close your eyes

and it'll be over soon

just float away

like me

like me

until you feel nothing

be nothing but a shadow

underneath the bleachers

it's a dream

a nightmare haunting

your sleep

it can't be real

it won't be real

wake up

wake up

but you can't

can you

it's over now

and now i know you

you are the face i see

in the mirror

i pity you

broken toy

A very nicely written poem. Simple yet complex.
