Tip of the Iceburg

Tip of the Iceburg

A Poem by Aislinn Gryffin ((Ashes))

You think you see her right beside you

but she is never there.

She sits on a planet up high

in the velvet sky.

You think you see her smiling wide

but it never is actually there.

That smile is just a mask she wears

to hide what she really feels.

You think she's just a little slow

whenever she reacts.

But really she just mimics you

and everyone she sees.

You think she's just another girl

but she isn't and never will be.

Life is all so clear to you,

but it's a labyrinth to her.

You think she understands

but she really never has.

All those you that you ignore

and you think are fine.

But it's only the tip of the iceburg

that's coming on quite rapidly.

You think you see her smiling wide
but it never is actually there.
That smile is just a mask she wears
to hide what she really feels.

I really like these words and can relate to them in a way.
I like this write, it's very emotional and well written.

Though this was written long ago, no doubt, there is no reason not to make it even more special.

First, in your title, if you refer to the icy block that sunk the Titanic, it’s “iceberg”

Here are some thoughts re: your beginning.

Is she right beside you?
She is never there.
She sits on a planet
High in velvet skies
Do you see her silent smile?
It’s never really there.
That smile is just a mask
for feelings to hide behind.
Is she a little slow
Whenever she reacts?

The motion of a question followed by a possible answer might breathe new meaning into it all.
