Ghostly

Ghostly

A Poem by Aislinn Gryffin ((Ashes))

a painting falls from the wall

as the books rain off the shelves

all the lights go dim

and the flame flickers out

that's when she reveals

herself to me

she's a faded beauty

little Suzanne

with long platinum hair

her nightgown must be

a hand-me-down

as it trails along the floor

she clings to my leg

and holds my hand

and kisses my cheek goodnight

then she slips

under the covers

and i turn out the light

then i turn back to the darkness

and drift through the wall

and wander the streets alone

a spirit lost in flight
