An Ocean of Pain

An Ocean of Pain

A Poem by Aislinn Gryffin ((Ashes))

Blue-winged butterflies,

from my sapphire tears,

carry me away to

somewhere far from here.

But everywhere i go,

everyone's the same,

choking me in smokey memories

and a fog of pain.

My scars are like a tall brick wall,

keeping me from sight,

my wings hang broken on my back

keeping me from flight.

i may never have felt lonliness,

but i've known my share of tears,

now they fall and rise to drown me

as i relive my fears.

So i'm sitting cross-legged,

on the bottom of my sea,

composing little poems

for the one who's forgotten me.

Early-morning inspiration huh? Well, your flow is impeccable, and I'm hoping you'll be hanging out with Ceryn to make this song more fleshed out. Now as tot he content, pain lasts and always a trace remains. It's what fuels art stronger than any other emotion, pushing it along to make it potent. Imagery like this doesn't usually come from happiness. Tears will fall and they'll leave burning trails, but time still passes and life brings new hope. Whether for pain or happiness, none can tell until after the fact. Great poem though haha. :)
