Too LateA Poem by Aislinn Gryffin ((Ashes))People are changing, Everything's rearranging. Life carries you away to a mirrored place But you can't even recognize your own face. Then they cover your eyes so you can't see That you're precisely where you never wanted to be. They hold you down So they can remove your frown And replace it with someone else's smile That's sickly-sweet and vile. They tear away your soul And replace it with coal To fuel the fire's Towering spires. When you escape it will be too late Because they've already changed your fate. You can't even get a new start Because they've stolen your heart. All they left is a garish scar Visible from anywhere near or far. No matter where you go in life You'll never get anything but strife Because no matter where you go They see you as the foe. And you can't say anything with lips stitched together As you wander this world, silent forever. i warned you that they'd change your fate But you never listen and now it's too damn late. © 2010 Aislinn Gryffin ((Ashes))Reviews
