The cover of day

The cover of day

A Poem by Horse of a Different Color

A dark black veil cloaks the hazel eyes,
Slowly the darkness give way to a gentile rainbow of pastels.
As the clock ticks away the time,
The pastels brighten until they burst into glowing rays of sun.
This day has an ebb and flow,
Unique unto itself.
Brightly the fiery orange sun is pulling on the same veil,
A blue sky melts into hues of pink and orange.
Until once again it is blackened and dark,
Small flecks of light dot the sky.
Like the tip of a match after being lit.
