3-23-2008A Poem by Horse of a Different ColorThe day a loved one lost his battle with cancer.
It is very hard to put into words the emotions of the week,
The pain of watching someones soul slowly fade away. Into the mere shell of the man he once was, A feeling of helplessness that filled a once loving home. Hours seemed like days that would not end, The smiles and laughs. The bell ringing and tears, The hugs and pictures with everyone. As we parted for the night you used all your strength just to say, "I love you" There was a sense of relief knowing you are finally at peace. So it is with heavy hearts that we trudge on, Like a hiker through a fresh mountain snow. The tears have since dried and started to go away, Your presence is missed at Christmas and many other holidays. You may be gone but are far from forgotten, We know you are looking down on us with pride and a smile on your face! © 2010 Horse of a Different Color |
