A Prideful Shame

A Prideful Shame

A Poem by TraverseTheSea
"

I wrote this in 2009, after a break up.

"
Wake up! Is there some kind of reason
why you live this life you're leading?
Stand up! before my grip slips away
I'm trying to keep you from falling down...

I see something in you
but when I pull away
I hear something new about you..

I fear your demise
I fear my own plea to the skies
asking why
I couldn't do anything

I try to keep you away
with words no other would say
but you're too close to keep distance

Don't let my grip..slip away
Don't let your body fall to shame
don't let my grip..slip away
don't let your body fall to shame

Can't you see how they treat you?
You're so blind, everyone's trying to reach you
But you're so deaf and they're screaming out,
but it's hard to shout
when your walls are thick for miles

I finally get into your head,
but I took the same path instead
of just helping you!
couldn't stop the serenade
or your feelings being betrayed,
and I just don't know what to do!
fighting for a lost cause,
my actions said it all,
I'm facing facts that are OH SO TRUE
The minute I gave a s**t,
I took a swing and I missed,
and ended up a hypocrit.
Just like you
Just like you
Just like you
Just like you
