The Father and Son

I wrote this one night when I was trying to fall asleep.

One day, a father and son leave home to go fishing. As the hours turn to days, days to weeks, weeks to months, expectant hearts wait for their return. And then - two figures appear on the hill on the path home, but there is no one there to welcome them.
