Pirates

Pirates

A Poem by Tripp

We jump off the ship and run to the shore,

And when attacking, The cannons roar.

Set and sail into the sun,

Sitting on the deck and drinking rum.

The captain stands and shouts aloud,

As he reels up the giant crowd.

“Attack and sink the ship to its locker!”
But, To us, It’s no shocker.

We retrieve the gold and plunder the treasure,

Sometimes we need a little lever.

We kidnap the captain, Make him walk the plank,

And make him swim off to the bank.

The band of the island that he is captive,

We look back at our captain that has the mapin’.

Sit on the deck once again,

The battle that we fought, We did win.

And although the war is still here,

We’ll pillage Tourtuga, Which we hold dear.

We sing lots of songs and hang with w****s

We don’t even care about food anymore.

So we’ll keep sailing on ‘till we die,

Because you know, Us pirates, Weill lie to stay alive.

I don't think I've ever read a pirate poem before, so for my first one, it was pretty good. The rhymes all seem to work, which adds a nice effect.

Hahahaha, fun! A few forced rhymes and a shaky meter, but honestly, I think that adds to it (and may have been the point). This would function well as a pirate's sea chante. Its clever, light, and captures the spirit of the first modern age democracy, and worthy of a tricorn, blunderbus, and sabre.

Avast!
