Killers in Arms

Killers in Arms

A Poem by Trikius
"

Another morning under the hot desert sun

My mind on the job, my hand on the gun

With the heart of a boy and the task of a man

I take honors and oaths to kill all I can

In the name of my country I make others suffer

Because they are poor and of different colors

Some ask what would the lord say of my deeds

But I only follow Jesus when it suits my own needs

When my master has dreams I make them come true

By murdering my brothers for the red, white, and blue

We kill mothers and daughters no ones exempt

The bullet knows no difference only contempt

I feel so at home in a wolrd set on fire

To see others in ruin fulfills my hearts dark desire

Heed the warning when the orders come through

Or the next bullet I send could be coming for you

Beautiful depicts the turmoil within a soldier who has started or already lost his sense of being after seeing so much suffering and innocent people killed. Maybe thats why instead of calling the civilian casualties murder victims they call "collateral damage" to hide the truth of their deaths and to minimize the life that was taken away by a bullet not meant for them

This is an amazing piece... Harsh but it's real, I wonder if most soldiers feel this way or think this way.. Def love the way you have written this.. Xoxox

This is a very interesting piece from a soldiers view point though I cant help to think of a genocide by your line about color. That and the civil war and the treatment of the slaves. This is a very unique piece. Great write.

"Some ask what would the lord say of my deeds

So true for most people in war and not. Beautifully phrased.
The message was a bit dire though I can say trauma changes people and what is war if not trauma? I wouldn't be surprised if most men and women who've taken up arms against another feels the same.

we are definitely opposites! I love the poem but don't necessarily like the message! I support our military and know there is no such thing as "world peace" because the heart of man is evil. Our military does a lot of good things and does protect people. Who would we look to if our country was attacked? and who would be spared?
