The Working Class HeroA Poem by TrikiusInspired by John Lennon's song working class heroThe working man trades his life for a wage With a false since of pride his title is his cage His back like iron, his head like rock Unknowingly the slave a servant of the clock
The ambition within wants only to be expressed But the devotion to false obligations keeps it repressed From miles around with thier punch cards they came The working class heros with no sense of shame
Our hero must stay busy for time equals money No rest for a peasant in the land of milk and honey He hopes someday for a brighter tomorrow But these dreams only come when he's drowning his sorrow
Hoping his children wont live life this way But from day one they were workers without even a say Just one more cog in a richer mans plan Thier fates are sealed, to die with a shovel in there hand
