It can come from a song, from a poem, from a few words from a loved one or a complete stranger. And it can remind you why you are, that you do have a reason to be.
I meet her on the road, under the stars.
Her feet are tired--she’s come so far--
her smile is gentle and sad.
She reaches out and takes my hand
and sips from me the anger,
the yawning, desperate need to fight.
And she says to me:
‘From these hands,
let only good work come and light the world.
From these fingers,
let notes fall into the patterns of a stranger’s tears.
From the ashes of our old love,
hold onto what is good, and forsake all else.’
She cradles me like a mother her child,
she knows my pain and understands my fears.
She stands above me.
She is in me.
‘From this mouth
let only come the truth,
and never be afraid.
From this heart,
give all your love
to those who deserve it
and to those who don’t.
So much hurt will come your way,
and you feel like you cannot go on.
But in the earliest hours of the day,
in the cracks between the night and dawn,
you will find the tender, innocent seedlings of your worth,
and all your fears will fall away.
You will see all that you can create, when you could destroy.
You will see all that you can forgive, when you could hurt and run.
You will see all the reasons why you should surrender,
but you will lift your head, shuffle your legs, lift your shoulders,
and you will see in your horizon a meaning in going on.
And you can never, never let it go.’
Nice...poetry can be an adventure of the mind...but it is actually the expression from the Soul...with thoughts like these even the world could change...
This poem is beautiful. You truly have a gift when it comes to writing poetry. Your poems always have a vision and are inspiring! I really don't have anything negative to say about this piece. So please keep writing because what you have is unlike any other!
