My father raised me to be an impressive man.
. His methods were distant and stern. . A sculptor chipping away at stone until it inspired an audience. . Flaws were unappealing. Bravery was unconditional. Ignorance was cultural assimilation. Confidence was indoctrinated. . Greatness was pursued with a feverish tenacity. Stone shavings of innocence and joy covered the base like ash. . Attention was paid from a loan using rest as collateral. . But do not mistake work ethic for restlessness. My greatest strength will forever be my heaviest burden. . My mind may grow desolate. My heart may grow cold. And my back may grow stiff. . But my spirit will fight on. . It is the sunset at the end of a storm. . It is unwavering. It inspires hope. It will not fail. © 2020 t |
