Redemption

Redemption

A Poem by Trenchcoat_Poetry
"

I wrote this after standing in the storm we had this morning. It's been a while since I was inspired to write.

"

It's cold. I’m shivering.

But I’ve never felt more alive.

Thunder rumbles over head as I look to the sky.

Pelted with tiny pinpricks of needle-like ice,

It washes me, cleansing. Refreshing.

Change is on the horizon.

“What are you doing?” he asks over breakfast

I can just hear him.

“I’m Shawshank-ing it!” I laugh.

Nothing more than a joke,

But I too, in that moment, had escaped my prison.

My tunnels dug as I crawled on my belly.

A crazy broad laughing up at the sky,

as the rain washed the s**t.

These nights have been the darkest,

but for the first time in a long while,

I finally see the light.
