EscapeA Poem by Trenchcoat_PoetryI walk the darkened halls Footstep’s echo in the dancing
torchlight. The distant memory of children’s
laughter, Gone now. I know I’m not alone here, And that’s what makes it worse. These demons are after me. I find myself running, looking for
that exit sign. But the monsters gain chase. The scrap of metal down a concrete
wall, It’s behind me. Always right on my
tail. I tell myself that it’s just a game, That I shouldn’t take it seriously, none
of it is real. But it is. I’m Trapped. No way of escape. Toréador,
en garde chimes through the quiet. A
gentle tinkle of a music box that should signal the end, But salvation
never comes. Dragged
back, once again into the darkness. When will I be free of this torment? Forever waiting for my 6am. © 2022 Trenchcoat_PoetryReviews
