![]() VacationA Poem by Soitgoes![]() Early draught![]()
I went drinking,
to take a holiday from thinking. For three lost years I sought, That which no amount of alcohol could have bought. A safety net of cylinders and bottles A panicked desire for a further swallow A guilty nightcap That we silently unscrew Dreading the morning and the night too I've broke up with my best friend, Its time we mixed with a different blend Something like yearning, somewhat lost A fine life dutifully squandered At what cost A fraction of me is missing, the others emit a sort of hissing, Magnificent in my sobriety My useless thirst ridicules my piety Now? Now the hangover of life decends with no short term ways to make amends Ohh, to be childish once more minus panic, minus sorrow, minus drink, tomorrow?
